Bringing Pets To The Ukraine<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Moving abroad, to any country, and starting a new life in an entirely different place is intense. It gets even more complicated when moving with pets.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are planning to relocate to the Ukraine with pets, please note that we can and will be happy to assist. We can handle all the bureaucracy needed to bring your pets to the Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pet Microchip<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Dog<\/p>\n

If you would like to import a pet into the Ukraine, you should note that your pet must be identified with an ISO compliant microchip or a tattoo (provided that the tattoo was applied prior to July 3, 2011).<\/span><\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t clearly stated in the regulations but from our knowledge, the microchip\/tattoo should be implanted before giving the vaccinations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vaccinations Needed To Bring A Pet To The Ukraine<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Pet<\/p>\n

Cats and dogs that are 12 weeks or older must be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days before entering the Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

The vaccine is valid as stated in the immunization records. Therefore, the Ukraine recognize rabies vaccines that are valid for more than 1 year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cats and dogs that are between 12 and 16 weeks old that have been vaccinated against rabies can enter the Ukraine before the 21 days pass if they meet one of the following requirements: from birth and until the time of their movement they have had no contact with wild animals of species susceptible to rabies or if their mother (that will travel with them) had a valid rabies vaccine before giving birth.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have a dog, we highly recommend vaccinating against DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza).<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have a cat, we highly recommend vaccination against FVRCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia).<\/span><\/p>\n

Rabies Antibody Titer Test – 3 Months In Advance!<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Blood<\/p>\n

Dogs and cats need to pass a rabies antibody blood test at least 3 months before entering the Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

A passing result should be equal to or greater than 0.5 IU\/ml.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Ukrainian authorities, the blood sample should be taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccine was given and the results are valid for 12 months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Health Certificate<\/span><\/h2>\n

Pets entering the Ukraine should pass a health check no more than 5 days prior to their arrival in the Ukraine. They will need to travel with an endorsed Ukrainian health certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are travelling with a dog, a vet should treat your dog for tapeworm and record it in the health certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n

This treatment should be given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before your pet\u2019s arrival in the Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #1<\/span>: Will my pet be quarantined once he enters the Ukraine?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Ukrainian authorities don\u2019t require pets to be quarantined upon arrival in the Ukraine. However, if a pet will arrive in the Ukraine without meeting the necessary requirements, quarantine can and will be enforced.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #2<\/span>: Can my pet fly with me in cabin?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, pets can fly into the Ukraine in-cabin, as excess luggage or as manifest cargo.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the regulations set by the Ukrainian authorities, all dog breeds are welcome. Therefore, if you have a “dangerous” breed (such as a Pitbull), you will still be able to import your dog into the Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

No, pets imported into the Ukraine don’t need an import permit.<\/span><\/p>\n
