Bringing Pets To Jordan<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Pets, especially dogs and cats, play an integral part within today’s family structure. As so, when faced with the opportunity to relocate abroad, pet owners rarely hesitate to take their pets along.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are pet owners and you are planning to move to Jordan, the following guide will provide you with all the necessary details needed to bring your pets to Jordan<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

Pet Microchip<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Dog<\/p>\n

Bringing a dog or cat to Jordan will require you to get them microchipped.<\/span><\/p>\n

We recommend you ask your vet to implant an ISO compatible microchip before vaccinating your pet. If the chip isn’t implanted before the vaccines, you won’t encounter problems when entering Jordan, but you will have so in the future, as most countries around the world require the chip to be implanted before giving the vaccines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vaccinations Needed To Bring A Pet To Jordan<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Pet<\/p>\n

The Jordanian authorities require cats and dogs to be vaccinated against rabies at least<\/span> 30 days before the flight. The rabies vaccine should be done after implanting the microchip.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Jordanian authorities, dogs and cats must enter Jordan within<\/span> 1 year of the rabies vaccine. Rabies vaccines that are valid for 2 or 3 years will be seen as though they are valid for 1 year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dogs should be vaccinated against DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza) before entering Jordan. It is recommended you vaccinate your dog against DHLPP at least 30 days before arrival + no more than 1 year before the dog\u2019s arrival in Jordan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cats should be vaccinated against FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia) before entering Jordan. It is recommended you vaccinate your cat against FVRCP at least 30 days before arrival + no more than 1 year before the cat\u2019s arrival in Jordan..<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jordanian authorities also require dogs and cats to be free from and treated against internal and external parasites. Pet owners should treat their dog\/cat against internal and external parasites no more than 14 days prior to the flight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rabies Antibody Titer Test<\/span><\/h2>\n

A rabies blood test isn\u2019t needed to bring a pet into Jordan<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, we recommend doing so, as you will most likely need this to exit Jordan, as most countries around the world require a titer test for importing a dog\/cat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please keep in mind that Jordan doesn\u2019t<\/span> have an approved rabies laboratory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Health Certificate<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Pet<\/p>\n

A health certificate is needed to enter Jordan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The health certificate must be endorsed by a government vet within 14 days of the pet\u2019s arrival.<\/span><\/p>\n

A digital copy isn’t approved (yet) by the Jordanian authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Import Permit<\/span><\/h2>\n

An import permit is needed if your pets are arriving as manifest cargo.<\/span><\/p>\n

It takes about 3-5 working days to issue the import permit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entering Jordan With A Pet<\/span><\/h2>\n

Pets may enter Jordan in cabin, as excess luggage or as manifest cargo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note that in the summer, when the weather is really hot in Jordan, you may encounter \u201cembargoes\u201d from many airlines. If you have snub-nosed dogs\/cats, there is a big chance you will need to postpone your relocation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Importing A Pet Into Jordan<\/span><\/h2>\n

Here are some frequently asked questions about importing a pet into Jordan:<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #1<\/span>:\u00a0Can I bring a pet into Jordan without hiring a pet relocation service?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Jordanian authorities don’t require pet owners to use a pet relocation service<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is, however, recommended to do the process with the help of experts, as one tiny mistake could complicate things for you are your beloved pets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #2<\/span>:\u00a0How long does the import process take?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It depends on many variables but in general, the process should take anywhere from two weeks to 1 month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #3<\/span>:\u00a0I have a Pitbull. Can I import him into Jordan?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There are no banned dog breeds in Jordan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, if you obey the import requirements, you will be able to bring your Pitbull into Jordan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #4<\/span>: Will my pet be placed in quarantine once we enter Jordan?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There is no mandatory quarantine when entering Jordan with a pet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question #5<\/span>:\u00a0Do I need to notify the Jordanian authorities of my pet’s arrival?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If your pet is arriving as manifest cargo, you must notify the Jordanian authorities, in advance, of your pet’s arrival.<\/span><\/p>\n
